Daydreaming About Guavas
Poetry by Kevin Grant
Art by Barbara Cruz

Her soft sun-baked skin, ever so supple almost like silk sends my eyes searching only to find more beauty.
Her high cheekbones resemble that of cherries, the ones with seeds.
The long flowing hair pours down her back like a waterfall as she pulls it out of her ponytail.
The shine from the milky moon caresses the right side of her face accenting what is her essence.
To say she is beautiful would only undervalue her, since it is not the body that entraps me;
rather, it is her soul and the fact that with each glance, each smile, each word,
she permits me inside of her and I surrender myself completely into her vowing to never betray,
I become a part of her, and we glide with entwined souls in tune through the guava orchard.
