The artwork for the Nature’s Energy Designs is a combination of photography and painting. “I enhance and subdue the balance of light, contrast and colors to work an image into the most authentic expression of my experience that I can,” says Cortese. Familiar images of gnomes, fairies, and all kinds of nature devas are camouflaged within their natural habitats, giving the bags an aura of wonder and awe.
“The plants, leaves and trees vibrate in pixels and reflections, whole and fragmented, multiple dimensions, sharing overlapping realities,” says Cortese. “And when you carry a Nature’s Energy Designs bag, you can actually ‘feel’ the good vibrations.”

“I decided perhaps the ‘Universe’ just wanted me to wait a bit longer before making contact,” Cortese says with a knowing smile.
Artistic By Nature
Debra's interest in art began as soon as she could hold a crayon, she says, and Nature has always been her prime source of inspiration. She was born in Brooklyn and raised in a rural area of the Catskill Mountains. Vermont's Northeast Kingdom was home for most of her adult life and it was there that her training as a graphic designer led to the development of her own full-service advertising/design agency. Debra ran this business for over two decades before devoting herself to her life’s passion: creating artworks that add positive energy to the planet. In 2003, she and her family moved to Miami, where, she delightedly exclaims, "in addition to a fabulous new palette of natural colors, the flora, fauna and devas of south Florida are just as magical and mysterious as those in the mountains of the northeast!"
