Claudia Molina a 29 year old single mother-
"This poem was written in memory of a very
special and close friend of mine that was never able to see
that when a bad day ends
another might not follow."

Petals in the Honey Jar
by Claudia Molina
art by Brookelyn Morgan

Ana's eyes-
like two jars of honey-
each thought of mine
sticks to the next-

surrounded in your sunflowers,
the only piece of you
left to touch.
All the questions-
all the petals-
i collect all i can.

Ana's eyes-
like two jars of honey
dripping
sweet tears of pain

This world-
it almost swallowed us all-
I wish you knew.
we all feel the weight,
   - the suffocation of our own selves-

i know those feelings-
they are my best friends
and my worst-
I wish to trade them in for gold

I watch your flowers
i count the petals
i take your pollen to the bank

ana's eyes-
like sweet mollassess
may spill out
but never fade.
